Therapeutic Massage in Albuquerque

Therapeutic Massage is the rubbing, compression, friction & kneading of the connective tissues and muscles with oil or lotion on the skin. This form of massage therapy is very relaxing and stress relieving.  Recent studies now show the many positive effects massage has on our health.

Here at Athletic Touch I utilize a variety of techniques including Neuromuscular therapy, Trigger Point, Orthopedic Massage, and Myofascial therapies to provide a deep and lasting relief for your muscular problems.

Each session is performed at therapeutic depths intended to:

What a Typical Therapeutic Massage Session is Like:

The sessions typically include an intake to gather information that will help develop a treatment plan. This intake may also include range of motion analysis. 

Treatment focuses on the particular regions that may be causing your pain. Because this work is specific and thorough, there is usually only enough time to work in the most important areas. For example, if you are suffering from migraines or headaches, I would focus on treating the muscles and tissues of your neck, jaw, and shoulders and head. 

Hydrotherapy (moist heat), cryotherapy (cold packs), and contrast (alternating cold/heat) therapies may also be utilized for greater and more lasting relief. I also use aromatherapy oils with almost every Therapeutic Massage.

Finally, treatments are concluded with some suggestions for self-care to further improve recovery. 

As always, you are welcome to return for further treatment. In fact, multiple sessions are often the key to fully treating many conditions.

Therapeutic Massage for Pain Relief

At Athletic Touch, Ruth uses Therapeutic Massage for pain relief.  The name “Therapeutic Massage” is used differently across the world to describe different massage modalities or styles.
