Sports Massage is a deep tissue massage with focus on specific areas, usually having to do with the overused areas for your particular sport or activity. One session can address problem areas and possibly get you back to normal. Sometimes it takes several sessions, and if I could suggest...that you make massage a regular part of your training schedule.  I have several money saving ideas for this option on the "Sports Massage Packages" page.

Research shows that Sports Massage helps injured and overused muscles heal 50% faster than rest alone.  There are also cases that support how sports massage can help improve cardiovascular performance as well as increase the amount of oxygen an athlete can breathe in. 

Why have massage on a regular basis?

Sports massage is best for the athlete when used on a regular basis for several reasons.  First, when you have sports massage on a regular basis, you get to know your body better.  For example, your body gets used to how a massage feels to your tired muscles.  With regular massage, you start to know what to expect and what feelings in your body are from a massage and what feelings are from working out. You'll be able to tell if the massage was too deep or not deep enough.  You'll also learn to feel the difference between a muscle pain and/or a muscle soreness. 

Secondly, your massage therapist gets to know the needs of your body and muscles and will know how much pressure is best for your healing cycle. By working together on a regular basis, it becomes clear to both massage therapist and athlete which areas need more attention, how fast the athlete heals after injury, how much pressure works the best for them, and when in their training schedule is the best time for a regular massage.

Which Sports Massage Do You Need?

A general "Sports Massage" which is for any sport, any athlete, is the quick & simple answer for what an athlete needs.  I offer "Sports Massage" in 2 time options: 60 minutes and 90 minutes.  Most Sports Massage therapists offer these times options.  The therapist will listen to what the athlete needs and will tailor their massage to focus on the areas needed.

Since there are so many sports that have specific needs, here are some specific areas of interest for Sports Massage.  Through the years, I have specialized in specific sports more than others.

Massage for Injury Recovery

​Massage is very helpful for injury recovery.  I have a special massage just for helping your injuries to heal.  This massage is good for any and all sports/athletes.  It includes specific deep trigger point therapy, some problem solving of why the injury happened if needed, ice massage, stretching, deep tissue massage and stripping, special salves and aromatherapy and hot towels if needed. This massage is 75 minutes long, and some of the time allotted could be used to stretch and/or strengthen effected areas.
